The most abundant resource on Earth is rubbish. We no longer have the resources to continue business as usual. Despite decades of campaigns by environmentalists, no laws have actually been created to prevent the situation we face because we thought that a cosmic collision would have destroyed the Earth by now anyway.
Rubbish and organic materials are the new currency. All people must save their rubbish to trade and the accumulation of rubbish will correspond to the accumulation of wealth.
All production of materials such as plastics, metals, and dangerous chemicals is to be halted. Many factories and businesses will have to change their outputs. All visual information previously labelled on plastic wrappers (food ingredients, instructions etc) will be accessible via an app on your smart phone. All electronics production will cease and preused materials will be utilised for repairs.
Your current phone will be added to your garbage bank balance. The waste currently in your possession will be added to your bank balance.
Programs will run to educate the public on how to use rubbish and sort it according to value. Waste and second hand materials are the only materials to be utilised in the construction industry. The demolition of houses is prohibited, but existing houses may be repaired or renovated with rubbish.
The same ideology will be applied to other consumables including clothing. All clothing production is to be halted. Clothes may be altered, traded, bought second hand or made from organic produce.
"no laws have actually been created to prevent the situation we face because we thought that a cosmic collision would have destroyed the Earth by now anyway."
All jobs that will be lost as a result of the halt in production of new items will be redesignated to waste sorting, waste repurposing and growing organic produce.
Your life is going to take a different path and those who can create value where there is none will be the richest of all. Imagination is the most valuable thing you can possess.
